Yesterday I wrote up a quick walk through on how to setup IMAP on your Motorola Droid to connect to Yahoo Mail. Today while reading the forums, I came across a few people asking how to setup Hotmail IMAP. First, according to Microsoft, IMAP is correctly not supported for Hotmail. You can, however, use POP3 to pull your mail from Hotmail. Below is the steps on how to set it up.




Caution: Before Proceeding, ensure that WIFI is turned OFF. This only works via Verizon 3G Signal. 

• Go to Mail icon. If this is the first time you've setup any mail service on the Motorola Droid, you will be prompt to enter in a username and password. Enter in your Hotmail email address and password
• Click on the Manual Setup at the bottom left corner
• In the incoming server setting, entering as followed

User Name : user@hotmail.com
Password : your email password
Incoming Mail Server : pop3.live.com
Security (Port) : SSL
Port : 995

• Press next to continue with SMTP Server. Once on that screen, enter in these settings

Email Address : user@hotmail.com
User Name : user@hotmail.com
Password : your email password
Outgoing Mail Server : smtp.live.com
Security (Port) : TLS
Port : 587

• Now click through next and fill out the name, etc. You are done. You now have IMAP setup on your new Motorola Droid for your Hotmail Account!
