Motorola Droid - How To Capture Screenshot

Other Motorola Droid Help - http://mobiletech.knguyentu.com/2009/11/motorola-droid-day-one-beast-is-among.html

This simple walk though will show you how to do a screenshot capture on your Motorola Droid device. In fact, this will work on most Google Android device. Unfortunately there is a simple program that I am aware of you can install on your Motorola Droid device and do a simple screen capture. At least not yet.

What You Need:
Let's Get Started:

  • When you first connect the Motorola Droid, windows will prompt for you to install a driver. If you don't see that prompt, go to your control panel -> system -> Hardware Devices. Find the one with the "?" icon and point the driver update to where you extract the droid_usb_driver to (this will work on other Android devices
  • On your Motorola Droid, go to settings -> application -> development and check "USB Debugging"
  • Extract the Android SDK
  • Extract and install Java SE Development Kit
  • Go to the Android SDK folder and go to sub folder "tools"
  • Launch "ddms.bat"
  • To start screen capture, go to "Device" and "Capture Screen"
This is how you capture screenshot of your Droid to your computer.

I find that if you save directly out of DDMS, the colors are all off, but if you copy to the clipboard then save the resulting image, using, say The GIMP, it works much better.

I was wondering about the same thing. I use snag-it on it instead. Wierd on the DDMS piece. Must be a bug.
