This seems to be a popular questions as I've been reading up on how to better use the Motorola Droid. I came across a few threads with snip-it information. So hopefully this will help answer the topic.
There is no direct way to select custom ringtone, alarm tone, or even notification tone from your Motorola Droid. By default, it doesn't allow you to browse to a folder and select the MP3, WAV, etc file you want. What you need to do it is first mount the UBS drive. As you start to use the Motorola Droid more and more, the only way to access the SD card on the Motorola Droid is by mounting the USB connection on the Droid.

Once you have it mounted, using your PC or MAC, create the folder structure as such.
- Media
- Audio
- Notifications
- Ringtones
- Alarms

You can also create custom ringtones by downloading Ringdroid from the Marketplace. Learn more about Ringdroid at http://download.cnet.com/8301-2007_4-10076763-12.html
works great
sweet!!!
This was very helpful, thanks!
When you say Create a folder structure Does it have to be a folder called Media then inside that Audio then inside that Notifications, Ringtones and Alarms? Or should this be 3 separate folders on my SD card that I can see when I mount my USB? I was unclear on that part.
Yep works great
